Loyalist College is actively seeking a collaborative and innovative leader to serve as their new Associate Dean, Media & Business. The Associate Dean will join Loyalist at an exciting time, as program offerings continue to grow.

Reporting to the Dean, School of Media & Business the Associate Dean, Media & Business provides broad academic leadership and operational effectiveness to media and creative industries programming, including the labs within the School of Business & Media. With a keen focus on the academic well-being and success of students, the Associate Dean (AD) provides support and direction to faculty and staff. The AD ensures the objectives of the programs are attained through effective leadership of teaching and learning processes. This includes ensuring compliance with governmental, regulatory, and accrediting bodies and budgetary oversight. The AD leads continuous quality assurance processes for existing programs and the development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry and in alignment with the College’s strategic plan. The AD fosters and maintains positive relationships with industry and business representatives and contributes to the College’s student recruitment, applied research, and work-integrated learning initiatives.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coach and mentor faculty and staff through continuous and progressive performance management techniques.
• Ensure all programming is student centred, industry aligned and with a focus on practical subject knowledge acquisition and human skill development.
• Facilitate on-going quality assurance processes for existing programs and development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry in alignment with the College’s strategic plan
• Ensure the objectives of the programs are attained through effective leadership of teaching and learning practices which includes managements of compliance with governmental, regulator and accrediting bodies and budget responsibility
• Develop and grow connections with applicable industries and business representatives in support of student recruitment, applied research, and work-integrated learning initiatives.
• Responsible for course and faculty load assignments, student timetables, calendar materials, and quality oversight for all elements of curriculum.
• Foster an environment that model’s diversity and inclusion, innovation, and effective communication/interaction amongst and between faculty, staff and students
• Anticipate trends and shifts in funding and manage program risk
• Manage school budgets in a fiscally responsible manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in media, education or a business a related field, preferably at the post-secondary level
• Completion of Master’s Degree or equivalent preferably in Leadership, Media, Business and/or Education or a related field is required
• Solid management experience in a unionized environment preferably in an education environment
• Demonstrated leadership success in a diverse and inclusive environment
• Experience in collaborative leadership, planning, goal setting, resource allocation and managing change initiatives
• Teaching experience, preferably in the college sector, considered an asset
• Successful candidate must be organized and able to set priorities for effective work management.
• Program development and curriculum design knowledge required; additional knowledge on adult learning principles considered an asset
• Self-directed team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to create and maintain effective relationships and working partnerships internal and external to the College
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills gained from collaborating across multiple constituencies and/or within a unionized environment are essential
• Budgetary experience required
