This World’s Ours Centre is looking for an experienced Instructor for Children and Adults with Disabilities to join the team.

This position is permanent, full-time; 30 hours per week; $35.00 per hour. Benefits included after probation period.

The standard 6 hours shift for this position could be scheduled between 9AM and 8PM on the weekdays.

Job Description
Duties:
- Must be able to work with children from 2.5 years old to neurodiverse adults that are over 30 years old;
- Develop and design 1 and 2 hours of programming a week for a 16-week program. All programs are based on recreation, social-emotional development and creating positive social opportunities. Programs are high interest, involve physical movement, life skills, and teaching of a new skill or hobby;
- Support neurodiverse children and adults with mobility, cognitive and emotional barriers through creating rapport and building trust;
-Assist individuals with physical, intellectual, visual and hearing disabilities or multiple disorders to develop life skills and provide job training
- Use participants' augmentative communication devices to speak, instruct and communicate how the participant learns.
- Collaborate and implement goals while working with our team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Music and art Therapists;
- Follow goals and collect data on goals written by This World's Ours Case Managers;
- Able to liaise with case managers, and parents and follow through with verbal and written plans.

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in special education or a related field is required;
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience;
- Understanding of aided language modelling and augmentative apps and programs such as Speak For Yourself and PECS is an asset;
- Comfortable working with a group of 6 students in the centre and in the community;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Criminal Record Check required;
- English language ability is required.
