Calgary, Alberta | Full-Time, Permanent | $21.87/hour
Are you a skilled caregiver with a passion for supporting physically aggressive individuals with developmental disabilities? We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced In-Home Support Worker to provide full-time care to a middle-aged adult living in Calgary. You must be a Canadian or permanent resident to apply.
This is a one-on-one role funded through Alberta’s PDD Family Managed Services and offers a unique opportunity to build meaningful connections and support someone in achieving independence and community engagement.

Position Details:

• Location: In-home, Calgary, Alberta (location will follow the client if he relocates within Calgary)
• Start Date: May 10, 2025
• Wage: $21.87/hour
• Schedule: Shift-based work, 40 hours/week
o Day: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
o Evening: 5:00 PM – 1:00 AM
o Overnight: 1:00 AM – 9:00 AM
• Job Type: Full-time, permanent (subject to continued government funding)
• Benefits/Vacation: Not provided
• No shift differential

Candidate Requirements:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent residents (Only resumes from Canadians and permanent residents will be accepted)
• Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
• Post-secondary education in developmental disability studies, social work, or a related field is required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
• Must be comfortable working with individuals who may display challenging behaviours—the client has a history of assault towards staff
• Knowledge of DBT or CBT techniques required
• Must have Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
• Able to work independently and maintain professional, compassionate care in a supportive home
• Flexible availability to work a rotating or fixed shift, including evenings and overnights

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Support with hygiene, dressing, and daily personal care
• Provide emotional support and companionship in a calm, consistent manner
• Help the client participate in recreational and community-based activities (e.g., basketball, outings, art)
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties
• Transport client to medical appointments, errands, and social activities
• Administer prescribed oral medications
• Support during potential hospital stays (40 hours/week)
• Continue providing care if the client transitions to another approved living arrangement within the Calgary city limits
